With more than 30 years in hairdressing, Simon is first and foremost an exceptionally experienced cutter.

His approach is instinctive but grounded in decades of technical knowledge — understanding shape, proportion, texture and how a haircut needs to work once a client leaves the salon. He’s particularly interested in creating hair that feels individual rather than overly “done”, and believes a great haircut should continue to work weeks after the appointment.

Simon co-founded Mien 25 years ago with a clear idea: create a salon where talented hairdressers could build great careers and do their best work. That philosophy has shaped the team Mien is today.

Over the years, running and developing the business has taken Simon increasingly away from the chair. Now he’s deliberately shifting some of that focus back to his clientele and the salon floor — cutting more, working alongside the team and doing the part of hairdressing he still loves most.

He also remains closely involved in Mien’s education and mentoring, passing on the technical understanding and experience that only comes from decades behind the chair.

Simon’s strengths: Precision cutting, short hair, restyles, shape and structure, and creating highly wearable cuts tailored to the individual.

Dejan brings together serious cutting experience, technical precision and an exceptional eye for finishing.

He joined Mien shortly after directing hair and make-up for Serbia Fashion Week and has since become one of the salon’s most technically accomplished stylists. While his work can look effortless and highly creative, there is a great deal of structure behind it — sectioning, tension, weight, proportion and finish are all carefully considered.

He is particularly strong with short hair and precision cutting, but his real point of difference is his versatility. From a beautifully executed haircut and polished blow-dry to waves, up-styling and make-up, Dejan understands how every element works together to create the finished look.

That technical knowledge also makes him an important part of Mien’s education team. He regularly leads styling and blow-dry training, teaching not simply how to achieve a result, but why the technique works.

Originally from Serbia, Dejan moved to Australia in pursuit of a bigger creative career. That passion for transformation still drives his work today.

Top Stylist | Colour Specialist | Aveda Ambassador Educator

With nearly two decades of experience across Sydney, London, Berlin and Melbourne, Clare brings exceptional depth to both cutting and colour.

Her work is modern and thoughtful, backed by strong technical foundations and a genuine understanding of hair condition. She specialises in creating colour that feels sophisticated and current without sacrificing the integrity of the hair — whether that means beautiful blondes, softer dimensional colour or a more natural, lived-in result.

Beyond Mien, Clare works with Aveda as an Ambassador Educator, performing stage work, demonstrating advanced techniques and sharing new approaches to colour with other hairdressers.

She is also a qualified Trainer and Assessor and plays an important role in developing Mien’s emerging stylists. Education comes naturally to Clare: she understands the technical why behind what she does and loves passing that knowledge on.

Clare introduced techniques including Tissue Lights to Mien, giving clients another way to achieve softer, lighter results with beautifully controlled placement.

Above all, Clare wants hair to remain healthy, manageable and wearable. For her, condition is never an afterthought.

Senior Stylist | Cut + Colour Specialist

Wani is the kind of hairdresser people stay with: highly experienced, technically strong and equally confident with cutting and colour.

Raised by a passionate hairdresser mum, hairdressing was always part of Wani’s world. She initially studied Molecular Biology at university in South Korea while working part-time in a salon — before realising that life behind the chair was where she belonged.

Since moving to Australia, Wani has received recognition through IHS, HBIA and American Crew, reflecting the breadth and consistency of her work.

She is a true all-rounder, equally comfortable creating a beautifully balanced haircut, precise highlights or natural, wearable colour. Her science background also gives her a particularly strong understanding of ingredients, hair health and how products actually perform.

But what clients often remember most is the consultation. Wani listens. She takes her time, asks the right questions and has a calm, measured approach that makes people feel genuinely looked after.

The result is hair that feels considered rather than overworked — and clients who return to her year after year.

Senior Stylist | Colour Specialist

With 15 years as an Aveda colourist across Sydney, London, Berlin and Melbourne, Lee brings a refined, intuitive approach to colour.

Lee is particularly known for soft, personalised colour and beautifully detailed hairline work. Placement is never arbitrary — every highlight, tone and transition is considered in relation to the client's complexion, natural hair, texture and the way the colour will grow out.

The result is colour that feels effortless rather than overdone: dimensional, flattering and completely individual.

With a background in clinical nutrition, Lee also brings a naturally holistic way of thinking to hair. Condition matters just as much as colour, and decisions are made with the long-term health and wearability of the hair in mind.

Kleida has a natural eye for beautifully polished hair — particularly long layers, glossy colour and blow-dries with serious bounce and movement.

Growing up around her mum’s salon in Albania, hairdressing was part of her world from an early age. Helping out around the salon eventually became a career of her own, and she brings that lifelong familiarity with hair into her work at Mien.

Kleida gravitates towards hair that feels modern but effortless: long, layered cuts, natural colour, honey blondes and soft movement rather than anything overly styled or rigid.

Blow-drying is a particular strength. She has an instinct for creating body and polish while keeping the hair touchable — the kind of finish that looks great when you leave the salon but still feels like you.

Thoughtful and detail-focused, Kleida wants clients to feel comfortable in her chair and genuinely good about their hair when they leave.

June brings a fresh eye, creative energy and a growing strength in precision cutting to the Mien floor.

Early in her career, she is already developing a clear approach to hair: listen properly, understand what the client wants and create something that feels individual while still being wearable in everyday life.

June particularly enjoys creative and precision cutting and loves designing shapes that work with a client's personality, texture and lifestyle rather than simply following a trend.

Working closely alongside Mien’s senior stylists and taking part in the salon’s ongoing education program means she is constantly building technique and confidence behind the chair.

Her appointments offer an opportunity to experience the Mien approach at a more accessible price point, with the support and education of a highly experienced team around her.

Fun, focused and collaborative, June brings an easy energy to an appointment and genuinely wants clients to feel comfortable, heard and excited about their hair.

Stylist

Ghili is a technically driven cutter-colourist with a genuine fascination for how hair works.

Ukrainian-born, his journey to Australia has been anything but conventional. Before hairdressing became his career, he spent time working as what he laughingly describes as an “illegal florist” in St Petersburg — an experience that strengthened his love of working creatively with his hands.

Today that curiosity is directed firmly at hair.

Ghili has a strong interest in form, structure and precision cutting and is constantly refining his understanding of different shapes and how they can be adapted to suit texture, face shape and lifestyle. His colour work follows the same philosophy: thoughtful, technical and tailored rather than formulaic.

Since joining Mien, training has become a major part of his development. He is one of those hairdressers who genuinely wants to understand why something works and will practise until he gets it right.

That attention to detail carries through to his clients. Ghili is calm, considered and deeply invested in improving his craft.

Danijela’s professional journey has taken her across advanced skincare, relaxation therapies, and treatment-led spa services—earning her a reputation for exceptional client care and transformative results. Her warm, grounded presence combined with her technical proficiency ensures every guest feels supported, restored, and truly seen.

She chose to join Mien for its aligned philosophy: personalised service, genuine connection, and elevated treatments that deliver both visible results and a holistic sense of wellbeing. Elspeth is one of Mien spa’s excellent specialist therapists, someone whom is dermal trained and has a deep understanding of skin. As well as providing rejuvenation and pigmentation solutions with advanced Laser therapies, Elspeth loves incorporating aromatherapy into her treatments.

Working with essential oils and the olfactory senses is a real craft and she finds that certain aromas create a sense of place, environment and seriously contribute to relaxation. Aromatherapy is an important part of the Aveda treatment experience. She loves customising treatments for each specific client and working with the essential oils is an integral part of that.

A skincare enthusiast herself, she's a firm believer in a great routine, daily SPF and taking the time to understand each client's individual needs.
