There’s a new generation of talent emerging at Mien, and Kleida is officially stepping onto the salon floor.

With a personal style she describes as chic, feminine and timeless, Kleida brings that same polished yet effortless aesthetic to the hair she creates. She has a particular love for long, layered cuts, glossy natural-looking colour and, of course, a beautifully bouncy blow-dry.

Hairdressing has always been part of Kleida’s life. Growing up in Albania, she spent plenty of time around the salon owned by her mum and began helping out from a young age.

“Honestly, at first it was mostly because my mum made me,” she laughs. “But over time, it naturally became something I wanted to pursue.”

Now qualified and working on the floor at Mien, Kleida is enjoying discovering a new side of the industry in Australia.

“I’m really enjoying the different way of working here compared with Albania. I love the organisation, meeting new people and seeing how different everyone’s style and hair preferences can be from one place to another. It has been a great learning experience.”

The complete look

Rather than viewing the haircut, colour and finish as separate services, Kleida loves seeing all the elements come together.

Right now, her favourite look to create is long, layered hair paired with beautiful, natural-looking tones and finished with movement and bounce.

“I love how the cut, colour and styling all come together to create a fresh, polished look.”

Her current colour inspiration is similarly refined: glossy natural shades and soft honey blondes. When it comes to styling, there is no hesitation about her favourite finish.

“As a Balkan girl, of course it’s going to be big, bouncy, sleek and polished!”

The secret to her blow-dry

Kleida is quickly becoming known at Mien for her blow-dries, and she believes the secret lies in creating the right foundation.

“It’s all in the roots and the technique. Focusing on the roots first helps create beautiful volume.”

She keeps the dryer close to the brush and carefully controls the direction of the airflow rather than allowing it to blow across the hair. It is that attention to detail that produces a finish that feels smooth, glossy and polished while still having plenty of movement.

Her two favourite Aveda products complement that approach perfectly: Nutriplenish Conditioner for hydration and softness, and Control Force Hairspray to keep a finished style beautifully in place.

Naturally herself

Kleida finds inspiration in fashion, social media and the style she sees in everyday life, but she also has a refreshingly natural approach to her own appearance.

Despite growing up around hairdressing and now working as a stylist, she has never coloured her own hair.

“I prefer to keep it completely natural. I’ve also never plucked or waxed my eyebrows, and I have a gap between my front teeth. They’re not perfect, but I’ve never wanted to change them because I think those things make me unique.”

That sense of individuality carries through to her work. Kleida doesn’t have one particular celebrity whose hair she dreams of transforming. She is far more interested in the person sitting in front of her.

She would love to work with anyone whose hair needs “a little rescue” or someone whose potential new look she can already picture.
